Going through cancer treatment is stressful enough without having to worry about the cost of your care and how you will pay for it. Unfortunately, while insurance usually pays a large portion of the cost of your treatment at Waverly Hematology Oncology, it rarely pays for all of it.
Just as good communication with us is important in managing your side effects from treatment, it is also essential in managing your account with us. Waverly Hematology Oncology is a small practice with limited resources. Nonetheless, we will do our best to help you find assistance for managing the cost of your care.
Medications will account for much of the cost of your care. Some cancer drugs are very expensive. You may also need some medications to help you cope with the effects of treatment that are also quite expensive. Your insurance may cover all of the cost of your medication. It is possible, however, that some of the cost of your medications will be your responsibility through copayments and coinsurance (that is, a percentage of your total bill that your insurance plan requires you to pay).
We are committed to being a supportive resource for our patients. You will meet with a financial counselor during one of your initial visits and at any time that you may have questions about your account or insurance coverage. The financial counselor can also discuss patient assistance programs or payment options.
